Welcome to the world, Rowan!

Rowan
7 pounds 6 ounces | 20 inches

My husband and I are so excited to announce that our sweet baby boy made his entrance this week! He is a healthy, long and lean little guy with a full head of adorable wavy blonde hair. Our hearts are so incredibly full.

I can't thank you all enough for the sweet text messages, emails, and comments on Instagram! Blog posts will be limited while I get my bearings with a newborn but make sure to follow on Instagram and Twitter!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! I didn't mean to go MIA this week but a super busy work week coupled with a serious lack of sleep made for one very exhausted mama. Hopefully there will be more naps in my future this weekend since it looks like this babe is staying put a little longer!

On to the important stuff... my favorites from the week. I'm linking up with Christina and the Five on Friday crew as usual!

New Polish

Essie 'Watermelon'
I ran out of my favorite pink polish (Essie 'Off the Shoulder') and was forced to try a new one, but Essie 'Watermelon' did not disappoint! I think its great for Valentine's Day and since I'm a pink polish person, I'll probably wear it well into the summer. Anyone have any other favorite colors I should try in case I use this up too quickly?

Clearance Donuts

Leave it to the super pregnant girl to be attracted by a box of giant donuts on clearance last night at Harris Teeter. They were in a random cart in the front of the store and I just had to get them. I then forgot what else was on my grocery list... #notsorry

Stripes

Stripeout Tunic
Can we please talk about how perfect this top is for Spring? Especially with the white pants! I admit I have a serious problem with buying striped clothing but this may just need to graduate from my online shopping cart to my closet.

DIY Crib Skirt and Curtains

I had a couple questions this week about the crib skirt and curtains that I made for Rowan's nursery. I planned on doing a tutorial for the crib skirt but honestly had no idea how it was going to come out so I ditched that plan. I used this adjustable crib skirt tutorial as a guide and just added a pleat to each side of the crib skirt. It would have been much easier with some kind of cotton fabric rather than the linen that I used!

As for the curtains, those are super easy and you can check out my back tab curtain tutorial to make those!

Minted Birth Announcements

Clockwise from top: On Display, Welcoming, Little Man, Simplicity

While I'm over here not so patiently waiting for Rowan to arrive, I've been trying to narrow down my options for birth announcements! I love Minted so naturally I'll be ordering from them again! Does anyone have a favorite? I'm leaning toward the first one, but I guess it will depend on which newborn photo(s) we choose!

That's it from me, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Rowan's Nursery Reveal

Rowan's nursery is officially ready, now all we need is for him to make an appearance! It has truly been a labor of love and I'm honestly surprised we pulled this off before his arrival. I'm pretty sure if my husband heard one more word about the rocker, shelves, or crib skirt I might have been a single parent.

Though some of the DIY projects were a lot of work, I'm so happy with how everything came out! I wanted the room to be soft and calming but also have some masculine, industrial-like details that can grow with him.

There was at least one pregnancy hormone-induced melt down about the presence of the queen bed in this room. I hate that it takes up so much space but with a 2 bedroom house, we absolutely need the extra bed for visitors until we can buy our first home (hopefully this Spring... yay!).

I tried to avoid a full-fledged theme but I did love the star bedding and that inspired the DIY mobile. One of my favorite items is the watercolor calligraphy print of lyrics from one of our favorite Coldplay songs, which went with the whole star thing too. And completely unrelated to stars, I threw in some adorable elephant details. Random combo I know, just go with it.

I love my Kate Spade baby bag, which I got for 70% off during one of the big sales. The only downfall is not having a crossbody strap but I purchased one on Amazon and can clip it onto the stroller straps if needed. Not super glam, but functional.

Our biggest splurge was the rocker, but it was completely worth it! You can remove the rocker legs to convert it to a traditional chair later on. Plus it was a quick ship option, we shipped it directly to the store for free, and used the 20% discount during the Pottery Barn Kids friends and family sale.

Eventually we may get some kind of bumper and toddler quilt but since we can't use them until Rowan is older, I didn't bother.

The crib skirt and curtains are made from Restoration Hardware flat bed sheets. I loved the color and couldn't find something similar anywhere else, but let me tell you... linen is not easy to work with! The crib skirt is adjustable (I used ribbons to tie it to the mattress frame) so I do love that aspect.
